To simply put, Oshihito was born into a strict family. From the moment he could walk, he was pushed into following in his father's footsteps and the pledge of loyalty that his family followed over the years; to serve the Ashihara household. He was a little reluctant to it at first, but over the years he came to accept his duty of someday assisting Chihiro into becoming the master of her household and thus protecting her with his life in turn.

He was never close to Chihiro as a child, however. Even though they had their share of encounters as they were kids growing up underneath the same household, the boy was far too focused in his duty to ever bring himself to build a sturdy relationship with the girl. This distance only grew over the months, the years. That is, until he eventually became an officer to the unit assigned to Chihiro.

His attitude didn't improve much over the years, having become a very strict and cold person because of his father's influence. This showed a lot around Chihiro who he was always pushing, because he wanted nothing more but to see her succeed.

But eventually Oshihito fell ill to a terrible disease. Having been on patrol with the small pack of wolves his family had trained over the years, he suddenly collapsed when fatigue came over him. From then, he was bedridden for days until finally diagnosed to be the first in his family to fall to a terminal illness. As his fate saw it, he were to die in a couple of years, even sooner if he didn't give up on fighting for Chihiro's sake. However, doing something as that would hurt his pride greatly so he refused to give up. Even though this illness had already set him apart from his family's pride, he took it on himself and kept it a secret from others besides for a select few who already knew, and to Chihiro mostly.

He returned to his duties after a week, and brushed off any question Chihiro threw his way about his bedridden condition. He refused to let her know the truth, telling her that it was only a common cold he had caught. Eventually, he was told of the invitation she received from an old family friend to attend an island with many others and discuss the man's assets. At first, he found the invitation suspicious and told Chihiro to forget about it.

But eventually, her family pushed so Chihiro had no choice but to go to the island even though Oshihito disagreed to the idea. So as his duty saw it, he followed Chihiro to Rokkenjima Island that would eventually change their lives forever.

NAME: Katsuragi Oshihito
SERIES: Harukanaru Toki no Naka de 4
HISTORY: Oshihito is a military officer of Nakatsu Kuni, in which he commands a troop of Kemonobito. His only hope is for Chihiro to become a good ruler of Nakatsu Kuni, so that’s why he was always strict towards her because he had high expectations for Chihiro.

He used a double sword that has very strong power but in exchange the sword will destroy his soul and body little by little. He knows that he is dying but refused to give up using the sword because he wants to help Chihiro defeat her enemies. At one point he said to himself, “my life in exchange to the success of Chihiro and the salvation of all the people of Nakatsu Kuni, this is such a small price to pay.” During the first play though his story, Chihiro asked Oshihito about the sword and told him that she would not ask him to stop fighting but that he had to promise her to never use the power of the sword again because she didn’t want a peaceful Nakatsu Kuni without him. And Oshihito did keep his promise with Chihiro until the very end when he died.

On the day when Chihiro was to become the new ruler of Nakatsu Kuni, Oshihito spotted assassins that were trying to kill Chihiro. To protect Chihiro, Oshihito fought with the assassins alone. Even though he did not use the sword, his health had become very bad and he used all his strength in this final battle for Chihiro. When he was dying, he saw the illusion of Chihiro and finally confessed his love for her but she will never know now.

Because he died there unable to tell Chihiro how he truely felt about her, he ended up at the doors to the Toujours Hotel with an invitation in hand that said he would be reunited with Chihiro once again.
PERSONALITY: Oshihito's personality can be compared to a lock. Inside are a ton of mechanisms, a labyrinth of mystery. He's hard as metal and stubborn, it takes something simple to please him. And that's just to obey. As a military officer he's prone to giving out orders, especially to Chihiro. Oshihito's stubborn, as to be expected of a soldier, it takes a while for him to see to reason unless he sees it himself. When he fights, he uses everything he has, even at the cost of his own life. His goal is to see a happy kingdom run by his treasured one and he'll do whatever it takes to see that through.
